Track Name: Bad Weight
I've got a bad weight
I've got a broken down mind
I've got this feeling my footfalls
Ain't been falling so fine

And if you come around
Don't expect me home
I've been walking these city streets
All on my own

And I've been telling myself
Don't take yourself so seriously

What I want want
We ain't likely to have
Can't put revolution
In no shopping bag

And i've been telling myself
Gotta find some way to act confidently

I've got my boots
Standing in shallow water
I've got rain-darkened shoulders
In the flannel of my father

And I've been telling myself
Gotta find some way to live intentionally
Track Name: Try Hell
Bleached fields and crushed car glass
Gutted hills and black coal ash
Summer corn standing tall
Wonder what becomes of it all

Along the asphalt run steep Swales

If you think it's hot here, try hell x2

Makeup weighs down her eyes
Her man's truck's got tractor tires
Do they know they ain't free?
How'd it come so clear to me?

As the sweat rolls down her brow

If you think it's hot here, try hell x2

With all this time spent on the road
It's hard knowing other ways to go
When the water finally falls it'll find its way
To lower places take the soil away

We'll watch the ditches run thick and brown

If you think it's hot here, try hell x2
Track Name: Not For Me
Before I saw it I'd been walking with my head down
Watching the sidewalk's wet reflections and the shadows on the ground
When within my streetlamp shadow there was a glow I could see a room was occupied
With chairs thrown to form a row, acting as Swales to slow the flow, it seemed they intended to stay the night

So leave the path in disarray
For life to grow the old way must decay
Go on and rise we'll get what we take
To each a stake in this new world we make

Stumbling now in our time
With our sweet table wine
When everything seems fine
The sun shines not for me
Not for me
No the light falls free

At times it seems some or none
That everything is one for one
And what's done is done
But rivers roll not for me
Not for me
Gathering water is a way to be

To be free say the bourgeoisie
Just go to the academy
Get yourself a PhD
But the crippled won't walk for me now
Not for me
While the blind are driven down stone steps to the sea

To be brutally plain
There is no end to pain
It comes and goes with the rain
But comfort comes not for me
Not for me
It slips on through eternity
Track Name: Rain of Everything
It's not the night that makes me tremble
The black lace full of light, the distance of all beyond me
Of everything above and below
The rain of everything slipping through the hands of nothing

It's the planes that pass close overhead
Above my city sky, the streets I share
With alleys empty but for the echo
The echo of planes passed
The rain of everything slipping through the hands of something
Track Name: Words Precipitate
Words precipitate on my mind
They fall like beads of sweat
In the summertime

Why won't you come home?
Whisper words to furnish sleep
Why won't you come home to me?

Always waking in unclaimed poetry
The long brown hair around my neck
All that was left me

Why won't you come home?
Whisper words to furnish sleep
Why won't you come home to me?

My bed sags where you're lacked
It holds strange hope for you coming back

Why won't you come home?
Whisper words to furnish sleep
Why won't you come home to me?
Track Name: Can I Pick You Up
Do you want to remember
Those afternoons when we would go down to your parent's pond?
The water was brown and
We'd swim around in it up on the surface where the water was warm

Can I pick you up to go to the valley
Where the river flows so cool and so smooth
We could go swimming down in the black water
Climb the rocks and bathe in the sun

And what of those dark nights under the bright lights
The pinpricks that flew from the growing black
Up on that hill, so wrapped and still
We wondered if things would ever change

Can I pick you up to go to the valley
Where the river flows so cool and so smooth
We could go swimming down in the black water
Climb the rocks and bathe in the sun

Those nights we'd go driving
When you'd always ask if we should pull over to save the gas
That was then, way back when times were slow
But my mind was slower still

Can I pick you up? I know it'll cost me
But I sure love the feel of that steering wheel
I know what you'll say, save it for another day
For once the times have done their changing again
